The Web Site is owned, operated and controlled by The Lester B. Pearson Canadian International Peacekeeping Training Centre Inc. (“PPC”).

Protecting your privacy is important to PPC. This Policy explains how PPC collects, uses and discloses the personal information that you may provide while using the Web Site or when sending an email or other electronic communications (“Electronic Communications”). Any personal information you provide to PPC, through Electronic Communications or otherwise, will be treated with care, and subject to this Policy will not be used or disclosed in ways to which you have not consented unless otherwise required or permitted by law.

Please be sure to read this entire Policy before using and submitting information via the Web Site. By using the Web Site and submitting your personal information via the Web Site, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use or submit information via the Web Site.

  1. Information Automatically Collected
    1. Non-Identifiable Information. The Web Site may automatically collect certain non-identifiable information regarding Web Site users, such as the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer, the IP address of your Internet Service Provider, the date and time you access the Web Site, the Internet address of the Web site from which you linked directly to the Web Site, the operating system you are using, the sections of the Web Site you visit, the Web Site pages read and images viewed, and the materials you download from the Web Site. This non-identifiable information is used by PPC to enhance services offered to you, the visitor, and/or other audiences. Non-identifiable information may be disclosed to others and/or permanently archived for future use.
    2. Cookies. The Web Site may use "cookies", a technology that installs information on a Web Site user's computer to permit the Web Site to recognize future visits using that computer. Cookies enhance the convenience and use of the Web Site. If you do not wish us to send or retrieve information via cookies, you may set your browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being used. If you do so, you may affect your use of the Web Site and your ability to access or interact with certain features of the Web Site.
  2. Personal Information You Specifically Provide
    1. Your Personal Information. During your use the Web Site, you may be asked to voluntarily provide certain personally identifiable information (such as your name and email address) for purposes such as facilitating communications with you and provide you with PPC services. You will be informed at each information collection point what information is required and what information is optional.
    2. Use of Your Personal Information. PPC may use your personal information to contact and correspond with you, respond to your inquiries, provide you with email notices, confirm your identity for the purposes of using PPC services and/or accessing or interacting with certain features of the Web Site, assess eligibility for admission to courses, record courses taken and help PPC manage its academic and financial affairs and as otherwise permitted by law. Generally, PPC will consider the fact that you have voluntarily visited the Web Site and have provided PPC with contact information to signify your consent for PPC to use your contact information for purposes of tracking our communications with you and providing you with information relating to PPC and our services which PPC thinks may be of interest or use to you. Only PPC employees and/or contractors working for PPC, with proper authorization, will have access to your personal information and only to the extent necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.
    3. Disclosure of Your Personal Information. Personal information provided to PPC will not be sold or shared with third parties without your prior consent, other than what is required or permitted by law or necessary to provide PPC services, which may include, but is not limited to, providing relevant information to third parties directly involved in the delivery of PPC services, institutions involved in the financing of PPC services, and institutions or persons providing transportation services.
    4. Tracking Information. In addition, PPC may use non-personal information to create aggregate tracking information reports regarding Web Site user demographics and Web Site traffic patterns. PPC also may link tracking information with Web site users' personal information. Once such a link is made, all of the linked information is treated as personal information and will be used and disclosed only in accordance with this Policy and in compliance with the law.
    5. Law Enforcement and Legal Disclosure. PPC may disclose your personal information to a government institution that has asserted its lawful authority to obtain the information or where PPC has reasonable grounds to believe the information could be useful in the investigation of unlawful activity, or to comply with a subpoena or warrant or an order made by a court, person or body with jurisdiction to compel the production of information, or to comply with court rules regarding the production of records and information, or to PPC’s legal counsel.
    6. Disclosure in Business Transfers. PPC may be involved in the assignment or other transfer of some or all of its business. As part of that assignment or transfer, PPC may disclose your personal information to the acquiring organization, but will require the acquiring organization to agree to protect the privacy of your personal information in a manner that is consistent with this Policy. If, at any time, you do not wish PPC to disclose your personal information as part of the assignment or transfer of some or all of PPC’s business, please notify PPC at info@peaceoperations.org.
    7. Storing and Securing Your Information. PPC may store and process your personal information at its offices located in Ottawa, Ontario and Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, Canada and electronically at PPC’s various offices throughout Canada such as in Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and Cornwallis. To help protect the confidentiality of your personal information, PPC employs security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. You should keep in mind that no Internet transmission or electronic system is ever 100% secure or error-free. Due to the nature of computer systems, networks, the Internet and Internet technologies, security and privacy risks cannot be eliminated and PPC cannot guarantee that your personal information will not be disclosed in ways not otherwise described in this Policy. For example, e-mail sent to or from this Web Site may not be secure, and you should therefore take special care in deciding what information you send to us via e-mail. When providing information, you do so at your own risk.
    8. Accessing Your Personal Information. You may request access to your personal information and information about PPC’s collection, use and disclosure of that information by contacting PPC at info@peaceoperations.org. Subject to certain exceptions prescribed by law, you have the right to have reasonable access to your personal information, and have the right to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and to have it amended as appropriate. You can help PPC maintain the accuracy and completeness of your information by notifying PPC of any changes to your personal information.
  3. Other Matters
    1. Other Web sites. The Web Site may contain links or references to other Internet resources. When you click on one of those links you are contacting other Internet resources that may collect information about you voluntarily or through cookies or other technologies. PPC assumes no responsibility or liability for, or control over Internet resources, or their collection, use and disclosure of your personal information. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every Web site you visit. When you follow a link and leave the Web Site, you do so at your own risk.
    2. Web Site Terms of Use Agreement. The Web Site Terms of Use Agreement governing your use of the Web Site (which may be viewed by clicking here) contains important provisions, including provisions disclaiming, limiting and excluding the liability of PPC and others regarding your use of the Web Site and provisions determining the applicable law and exclusive jurisdiction for the resolution of any disputes regarding your use of the Web Site. Each of those provisions also applies to any disputes that may arise in relation to this Policy and the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information, and are of the same force and effect as if they had been reproduced directly in this Policy.
    3. Former Users. If you stop using the Web Site or your permission to use the Web Site is terminated by PPC, PPC may continue to use and disclose your personal information in accordance with this Policy as amended from time to time to the extent permitted by law.
    4. Policy Changes. To accommodate changes in the Web Site, changing technology and legal developments, this Policy may be changed by PPC from time to time in PPC's sole discretion and without any prior notice or liability to you or any other person. PPC’s collection, use and disclosure of your personal information will be governed by the version of this Policy in effect at that time. New versions of this Policy will be posted here. Your continued use of the Web Site subsequent to any changes to this Policy will signify that you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with the changed Policy. Accordingly, when you use the Web Site or receive or request any Electronic Communication, you should check the date of this Policy and review any changes since the last version.
