On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians are asked to pause and remember the thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives fighting for freedom and democracy during the First World War, the Second World War, the Korean War, the Afghanistan conflict and during peacekeeping missions.

Peace Operations Workshop
Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (Accra, Ghana)
The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre will be hosting participants from the police and gendarmerie organizations involved in the Pan African Police Project (PAPP) in a Peace Operations Workshop. This workshop is a follow-up from last year’s workshop held in Bamako, Mali at l’École de maintien de la paix Alioune Blondin Beye
The participants from West and Central Africa will have the opportunity to share experiences on progress on the issues discussed last year and to explore new topics and developments in peacekeeping over the past year.
The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre will be inviting guest speakers from the Canadian High Commission in Accra, the DPKO-AU Peace Support Team, the African Union PSOD Police Component, the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as well as from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
